Community Town Hall 2014

There has been a lot of talk and media attention about the debate over how to address the dropout issue in America's schools. On Tuesday February 18, 2014, community members and educational stakeholders from the DC area gathered at WHUT's Television Studios for the American Graduate Community Town Hall. NPR's Michel Martin moderated as educators, community leaders and students gathered to share their perspectives and alternate pathways to a high school education. They agreed that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to solving the dropout crisis. Career academies promote job readiness; mentors can help guide students.  There are many approaches but the goal is the same to put students on the path to a successful life.  And it all starts with a high school diploma.
